Yesterday
we appeared as guest judges at the performance contest

“Heart Beat Festa ~Anata no Kenketsu de, Dareka ga Egao ni.~”

 

The concept of the event was to encourage more young people to donate blood,
since the amount of people in their teens and 20s donating blood has gone down

There are people who can be saved with our blood donations

I passed by a blood donation site earlier when I had time between jobs,

and I thought “I’ll donate“

When I got closer, I thought
“Hold on…!? How long does it take to donate …Huh… If I donated now, would I be able to make my next job in time”

So I left without donating…

Though, I learned a variety of things about donating blood at yesterday’s contest, and it made me think

“Next time I’ll pitch in and donate too“

Everyone, if you have the chance, please be sure to participate in a blood drive

I hope it brings smiles to as many people as possible

 

And then,
at the contest we watched the performances of 12 groups who had advanced to the final judging

There were a wide variety of performances, so it was really fun

Seeing the performances of people in the same generation as me, I thought

“They’ve practiced a lot for the sake of today’s performance“,

and it was really, really motivating

The grand prize winners were
Saitama-sakae High School’s
“crow1n”,

and they gave an impactful performance with a lot of members

Congratulations on your victory

But each performance was really wonderful, so judging was considerably difficult

After the winner was announced,
I saw the bitter smiles of the other groups,

and it made me think “When you work hard at something, your frustration when you fail is big too”

Though it’s unfortunate they couldn’t win, they looked really cool

People who are working hard for something really sparkle

Everyone who participated, thank you for all your hard work

And then, we performed the 4 songs

Everyone’s performances gave us a lot of power,

there were really a lot of people who said “Pleased to meet you”(゜o゜)/

℃-ute will work hard so that the ranks of team ℃-ute grow more and more

Details on Maimi’s next photobook

Maimi announced her next photobook in her blog update today, and while no details like a title or release date were given, Maimi did reveal that she would be designing the photobook herself. For those who aren’t familiar, one of Maimi’s hobbies is making photo albums (one such photo album can be seen here), and she even designed a special cover for one of her previous photobooks, “Tabioto” (pictured left).

More details will be posted here as soon as they’re announced.

“I My Me” navigator message for March 29th

Here’s the translation of Maimi’s navigator message for March 29th on the “℃-ute Yajima Maimi no I My Me Maimi~” website:

Today’s theme is “Heh heh! I’m proud!”
℃-ute performed in the play “Sakura no Hanataba” until the 24th.
This was a special play where we performed in 3 halls at the same time, so the performing members had to run back and forth between the 3 halls.

The longest distance we had to run up the stairs in the small window of time was from the basement to the 5th floor,
and for someone like me who has loved exercise since I was a kid, I was confident in my ability to go up and down the stairs (lol)

After we finished a dress rehearsal in the 3 halls simultaneously before the opening day,
it seems there was the gossip “Yajima is fast!” going around the theater staff (lol)
I was told “Without Yajima’s legs, this would never work!”,
and once again I thought “I’m grateful to my parents!”

The staff members would communicate with each other “Yajima has just left the middle hall!”,
and I heard that as they were thinking “They just contacted us!”,
they could immediately hear the sound of footsteps running up the stairs,
and were surprised “Whoa! She’s fast!” each time (lol)

I wrote that I had a lot of luggage in my update the day before yesterday…

And the reason is…

I’m producing a “handmade photobook” that will go on sale

A~h The deadline is getting close though(°∇°;)

I get really, really immersed when I’m working on it, and I lose track of time

 

This photobook is unlike any of my other photobooks up to now,

so when I was participating in the meeting, I was allowed to share my ideas and opinions like

“I want to make a photobook like this”

and “How do you feel about this theme”

We also talked about how I’ve made photo albums and photo frames as part of my hobby, and how I love making small things

So I’ll decorate the pictures from the photoshoot myself

My hands end up covered in glue every day~σ(^_^；)

But it’s fun…

At home or at work, I’m always paste, paste, pasting things

Every time I’m doing it as part of my hobby at home,

my mom becomes angry and says “Go to sleep already“…

But since I’m doing it for a photobook now, my mom helps out

She’ll find something she thinks I can use in the sewing box at our home,

and say “How’s this Don’t you think you can use it”

Maimi is May’s “Bijo Megane”

The “Bijo Megane” (“Beautiful Girl in Glasses”) section on the “Digimono Station” website has updated with May’s edition, which is none other than Maimi. ▪Fellow ℃-ute member Suzuki Airi posted this 2-shot of herself and Maimi from their “Big Comic Spirits” photoshoot in her update today on the official ℃-ute blog.

▪Fellow ℃-ute member Nakajima Saki wrote in her update on the official ℃-ute blog today that she was on location filming for the program “Hello! SATOYAMA Life” along with Maimi and Morning Musume’s Iikubo Haruna, and shared this 3-shot of the group.

▪Maimi’s “Sakura no Hanataba” costar Fukunaga Marika updated her official blog with a couple of 2-shots with Maimi and reflected on their time together on the play. Marika wrote how Maimi’s diligence and postive attitude inspired her, and that she wouldn’t have been able to do the play with anyone else.

▪The “UTB” Twitter account tweeted these pictures from today’s photobook handshake event. In the second picture, Maimi is showing her favorite picture in the photobook, one she took of Nacky and Airi on the bullet train which Hagiwara Mai happened to sneak into.

Blog update: “Sakura no Hanataba(/_;)”

Here’s the translation for Maimi’s March 25th update, titled “Sakura no Hanataba(/_;)“:

Good evening
It’s Maimi

Yesterday, we finished all of the performances of the play “Sakura no Hanataba”, which began on March 14th

When I heard that we’d be performing in 3 halls simultaneously, and as such the members would have to run back and forth between the 3 halls during the performances,

I thought “Something amazing is beginning“(゜o゜)/

I was prepared for the challenge in the beginning,

but when practice started,
more problems arose than I had imagined…

Honestly, I felt anxious and impatient every day

But the reason that my spirit didn’t break at that time

was because of the passion of a lot of people involved with the play

The staff who calculated the time every day on little sleep so that we’d be able to move between the 3 halls with the right timing.

Tsubota Fumi-san, who had to make countless changes to the script she worked hard on to adjust to the timing.

“Alright!! I’ll memorize the script quickly, and then think about my character’s feelings!!”

With that in mind,
I memorized my lines and talked a lot with my costar Marika-chan on how to portray my feelings,

but on one day close to the performances,
we were told that there was no way to get the timing to match up, so it was necessary that the script be completely changed.

I had to remember the script from the beginning again, rethink my character’s feelings, and reorganize everything in my head…

Because I had been working seriously, I became frustrated,

and I started to become anxious and impatient like

“Will I be ready in time for the performance?… No, I’ve gotta be ready!!”

However, I think the person who was most troubled by this was Tsubota Fumi-san.

Writing just one story is difficult enough, but writing 3 stories…! By yourself…! In addition, she had to write the story while thinking about the time it’d take to perform…

How difficult that must be…

I think she was definitely frustrated that she had to change something that she had finally finished

In addition, Ooiwa-san, who had to direct 3 plays by herself…
She’s really amazing

Whenever there was a scene we didn’t appear in during practice, we each took breaks and ate…

But Ooiwa-san was directing us the entire time without taking a break

Even though we only had to think of one story, our heads were full…

When making 3 plays,
there are going to be some inconsistencies…

Ooiwa-san was always troubled with how to overcome those problems while keeping in mind the timing

But,
she would say things like “No no, there’s definitely a solution We can’t compromise at a time like this“…

She was always giving us reassuring words

There were a lot of people who were giving their all,
so we definitely couldn’t complain!!

On the contrary, it made me think “If I believe, things will definitely work out somehow” and always gave me a ton of power to work hard

Again, I felt it was amazing how people’s determination and passion rubs off on other people

The day when we did a full rehearsal for the lighting, sound, costume, etc. staff…

The training room was filled with staff members.

“That’s right!! Since we’re performing in 3 halls at once, there’s 3 times as many staff as usual”

…When I saw the amount of people, I again thought that performing in 3 halls simultaneously is an amazing thing.

Including the staff who weren’t there, this play is going to open through the cooperation of a lot of people…

I felt…

At rehearsal, we couldn’t get the timing to move between the 3 halls even once,

and we went to the theater filled with anxiety,

but we were able to make the performance a success thanks to the many people who supported us!

Also, after the play had started, the staff were worried our legs would get fatigued going up and down the stairs, so they gave us compresses

We were really surrounded by wonderful staff

And then, my buddy
Fukunaga Marika-chan…

It was an extremely fresh feeling putting on a play with a girl who is the same age as myself

Since we’re the same age, I could ask her a lot of things without needing to worry

We were able to talk a lot

I was really happy…

It was fun receiving motivation from her and learning something new about her every day…

I’m really glad that I was able to be in a play with Marika-chan

I’m grateful to fate for bringing us together

And then, I’m grateful I was able to meet my role, Hirano Sakiko, too

The time I spent thinking about, worrying about, and making discoveries about Sakiko will definitely be useful to me from here on out

I still have thoughts like “Could I have done it like this? Could I have done it like that?“,

but I want to make the best of those things in the future too

Lastly,
everyone who came to the theater!!

This play was something that all of us worked frantically to put together,

so I’m really happy there were people who came and watched

Of course, I think there are a lot of people who wanted to come but couldn’t

We received a lot of power from those people too

I’m grateful for the many people who support us in ways we can’t see

I feel a sense of accomplishment at being able to reach the closing day without any problems after days full of anxiety…

Again I felt that sharing my determination, troubles, and joys with a lot of people, and then coming together as one like this is fun

Maimi Sightings for March 24th

▪Fellow ℃-ute member Suzuki Airi uploaded this 2-shot with Maimi in her update today on the official ℃-ute blog.

▪Maimi’s “Sakura no Hanataba” costar Fukunaga Marika shared this 2-shot with Maimi and had this to say in an update on her official blog:

The pic’s of my partner Yajima Maimi-sama and our parfaits.

Maimi-sama’s presence in the dressing room alone has a relaxing effect.

She’s a human aroma.

By the way, Maimi-chan has a pet dog named Aroma.
